Wickes has announced plans for a trial that will see it re-open six stores with strict new social distancing measures in place to protect colleagues and customers. The stores will open on
Thursday April 30. The stores will operate shorter opening hours on Monday to Saturday, opening at 7.00am and closing at 6.00pm. In Sunday there will be trading hours of 10.00am to 4.00pm.
The stores will limit the number of customers in the shop at any one time. There will also be lines on the floor to advise people to stand two metres apart. Each shop has installed perspex
screens at the tills and service stations, and colleagues on the shop floor will be using PPE. Sanitising stations have been installed for customer use and the stores will only accept card
and contactless payments. Wickes is also still operating online at Wickes.co.uk. There are options for Click & Collect and home delivery orders across the country. Services such as
timber cutting, and paint mixing will not be available during the trial period and Showroom Kitchen & Bathroom design appointments are only available to customers virtually. B&G
stores have reopened in the UK too. B&Q shops will be open to customers from 8am until 5pm every day. A B&Q spokesperson said: “As an essential retailer, we’ve watched other
essential retailers support social distancing in their stores and are now in a position to follow best practice and reopen a small number of our stores as a trial, while keeping our
colleagues and customers safe. “We’re strictly limiting the number of customers in store at any one time, and so customers may need to queue before entering the store." Currently 155
B&Q stores have opened - here is the full list. McDonald's reopening rumours have been rife across the UK with Britons craving the fast food. When will the restaurants open? The
fast food brand has made a statement in which it admitted to having no confirmed plans to open. The restaurant took too Facebook to communicate directly with its customers. It said: "We
promise we will update you here as soon as we have confirmed our plans. Stay safe, stay at home and we will see you soon."
