“Once a week is a healthy balance between washing sheets enough to avoid the build-up of bacteria, germs and dirt without being so often that it becomes hard to fit into your routine.”
However, there are other factors which warrant how frequent you should wash bedding, including if you have allergies or pets. Before getting into bed, many people opt to shower to prevent
sweat from the day contaminating clean bed sheets. However, if you have pets and they sleep in the bed, they do not bathe every day, and therefore carry more bacteria than humans. The
experts noted: “Another issue with pets sleeping on your bed is the amount of fur they can shed. With all this excess fur, skin cells and bacteria on your sheets, it is best to wash your
sheets more frequently if you sleep with pets.” READ MORE: THREE STEPS TO ENSURE ‘EVEN FINISH’ WHEN PAINTING KITCHEN CABINETS
