The young cat has not only blossomed into a stunning grey cat but has a struck up a unique feline friendship.  As the dye slowly fades from Smurf’s coat, he is enjoying a “purple patch” as a

social media star and also the guiding light for a blind cat called Wanda at a rescue centre.  Smurf was saved by dedicated staff at the Nine Lives Foundation after being dropped off in a

box covered in purple fabric dye and pockmarked with bite wounds late last year. He was also badly emaciated, weighing 28 ounces, and was running a high temperature. Nine Lives Foundation’s

vet Dr Monica Rudiger said: “I believe that, for someone’s amusement, this kitten was used as a chew toy for their dog."  Two months on and Smurf and his blind friend have their own

Facebook and Instagram pages, revealing their exploits and rehabilitation as they look towards the day when they become full-time pets - together.
