Kate Middleton and Prince William married in 2011 and were immediately awarded the titles Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The couple will take up new titles when Prince William takes the
throne, following his father, Prince Charles. WILL KATE MIDDLETON BECOME QUEEN? One day after Prince Charles vacates the throne Prince William will become the King of England. When he does
so, the Prince will have likely inherited his father’s Prince of Wales title, and Kate Middleton will be the Princess of Wales. Once William succeeds his father, Kate Middleton will
technically become Queen, but not in the same way as Queen Elizabeth II. READ MORE: KATE MIDDLETON PATRONAGES: ALL THE HONOURS KATE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE When Prince William becomes king,
Kate Middleton will become the Queen consort. The Consort is a title afforded to the spouse of the King or Queen and was most recently held by the Queen Mother. Queen consorts cannot become
Queen in the same way as Queen Elizabeth II, as only direct descendants of the crown can claim the title. The next person to hold the Queen Consort title will be Camilla, Duchess of
Cornwall, however, this is disputed. She is more popular than both her father and grandfather-in-law, who are on approval ratings of 48 and 52 percent. The Duchess is still far behind the
Queen, however, who is the most popular member of the family with a 72 percent approval. The least popular members of the Royal Family are the Yorks, with Beatrice and Eugenie on approval
ratings of 26 and 25 percent. Their father, Prince Andrew, is at the bottom of the rankings with an approval rating of just 15 percent. While the Queen is said to be training both Kate
Middleton and Camilla as future consorts, the Windsor matriarch allegedly has another favourite. Speaking to the Sun, one royal insider said the Queen finds her daughter in law Sophie
Wessex's presence "soothing" and she relies on Prince Edward's wife in a unique way. They said: “She is trusted and relied on by the Queen in a way I couldn’t say
applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall. “She is like another daughter to Her Majesty, they are that close.”
