Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to go ahead with a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey signals "an ongoing and undeniable rift" with the rest of the Royal Family.
Sky's royal correspondent, Rhiannon Mills, said that there appears to have been "tense discussions behind the scenes" in the lead-up to the Oprah interview announcement. This
comes as Harry and Meghan informed the Queen they will not return as working members of the Royal Family. The decision marks the end of the couple's royal ties, a year after Harry and
Meghan stepped back as working members of the Royal Family. Speaking on Sky News, Ms Mills remarked that the the couple "don't sound happy" in the statement announcing the
unprecedented decision. She said: "There is this ongoing, undeniable rift, you can see that in these statements. "The tone of these Sussexes statements don't sound happy, and
that final sentence about service sounds like they feel like they have been pushed to one side." JUST IN: ROYAL FAMILY LIVE: MEGHAN AND HARRY WARNED ‘NO WAY BACK FOR THEM' Ms Mills
continued: "Part of that has to do with what has obviously been very tense discussions behind the scenes. "We know that the Duke and Duchess have announced they will do that
tell-all interview with Oprah. "I think the Palace put out the statement today because they didn't want it to look like they were reacting to that interview, which is due on the
7th March. "Members of the Royal Family simply don't do interviews like a tell-all style interview with Oprah. The honours will be returned to the Queen and "redistributed
among working members of The Royal Family". A Buckingham Palace statement said the royals were "saddened by their decision" but that Harry and Meghan "remain much loved
members of the family". Confirmation of their future status comes ahead of an interview next month with Oprah Winfrey - something royal experts claim could prove an "uncomfortable
watch" for the Royal Family. The couple also recently announced they are expecting their second child. Harry and Meghan's new life in California has already seen them sign deals
with Spotify and Netflix estimated to be worth more than £100m.
