The SNP’s motivations for having a second Scottish independence referendum are “entirely political” according to Duncan Baker. Mr Baker is the new MP for North Norfolk, which had been a safe
Lib Dem seat since 2001, but saw a huge swing to the Conservatives in the December general election. He also branded Nicola Sturgeon’s “constant call” for indyref2 as “incredibly divisive”
at the time when we “need to heal the divides”. Mr Baker told Express.co.uk: “The last thing I’d like to see is to see Scotland leave the union. “I think they should absolutely stop, it’s
entirely political and divisive. “We see it in the House of Commons. Every time the SNP speak about an issue, they bring it back to wanting to leave the union. “I just think it’s wrong and
we should stop it.” READ MORE: SNP CHIEF SQUIRMS AS BBC HOST EXPOSES STURGEON'S BOTCHED TAX PLAN He continued: “We said back in 2014 it was a once in a lifetime referendum on Scotland.
“And, I think it was 55 percent of people rejected independence, and that’s the way it should be. “It is incredibly divisive, I think, to be entering into a situation where there is a
constant call for us to have another referendum. “We’ve seen, in my personal view, that referendums don’t really help to solve deep rooted issues in society.” “I think it’s incredibly
divisive, and actually as a country, it’s totally the wrong thing to do. “Actually, after the situation we’ve been in for the last few years, we now need to heal the divides. “We actually
now need to come together and get behind the direction the country is going in. “We should all be working together as one union.”
