The rapist son of Wales' First Minister has been found in breach of his sex offender orders. Jonathan Drakeford, 36, who now uses the name of Jay Humphries, was convicted and jailed in
2018 for rape and inflicting actual bodily harm. He was handed an eight year and eight month sentence at Cardiff Crown Court, after also admitting to a child sex offence for messaging a girl
on Facebook who he thought was 15 years old. The convicted rapist was allowed out of prison on licence and was given permission by police to create an account on the Fab Guys dating site.
Mr Humphries was supposed to use an approved profile name so his activities on the site could be monitored. However, Caernarfon Magistrates' Court heard he used an unapproved one and
deleted internet browsing history from his phone. He has admitted both offences and will now be sentenced on August 11. Catherine Elvin for the prosecution rejected the defendant's
claim he had accidentally deleted the internet history from his phone. She argued that his guilty pleas proved he had done it deliberately to "conceal" his actions. Although no one
was harmed by the breaches, Ms Elvin insisted: "Sexual harm prevention orders are put in place for a reason." Mr Humphries' defence pleaded for leniency, claiming he had been
under emotional stress at the time. Gemma Morgan said her client had been struggling to come to terms with his personal situation since his release from prison, and being forced to live
away from his close family. She noted that Mr Humphries was also still getting over the death of his mother in January. "He was suffering emotionally," said Ms Morgan. "He was
speaking to other men on Fab Guys expressing his feelings." The court was told those feelings and his actions were compounded by learning difficulties and being autistic. Mr Humphries
was arrested in Bangor, Gwynedd in March for breaching his sex offender orders. He had since been recalled to prison in May after other breaches of his release licence, including leaving an
abusive phone message for a probation officer.
