"They value their privacy and do not like being hassled about their views. Many will probably even lie rather than reveal their voting intention. I got the Brexit vote right, the

General Election and now the American election.  "A lot of people claim to be ashamed that Trump has links to Lewis because of the way he talks. But a lot of people on Lewis like and

admire Trump. "I started the page to show how I felt and hoped others would feel the same too. It's all about honesty. I think he's an honest man. "Time will tell if his

links with the island will help - but he seems to have a soft spot for here."  And the father-of-five added: "I just click with his approach - though not necessarily how he says

it. I feel his approach is very much a Lewis approach in style.  "He is not intimidated by what people say, and I'm impressed by that."  A social media row broke out earlier

Trump' page. Colin Morrison wrote: "Local girl's son president. Will we see the president visiting kim (sic) and the folk in Tong."  While MaryAnn Campbelll wrote simply:

"V sad day."  Mr Trump's mother Mary Anne - who was born in 1912 in Tong - emigrated to America and met and married property magnate Frederick Trump. Eight years ago Mr Trump

made an emotional visit to his late mother's humble old home and met his cousins.  However afterwards, Mr Trump said he was only doing his £1bn golf course scheme in Aberdeenshire in

memory of his beloved mother.  Mr Trump revealed on that trip that he had been to Lewis once before as "a three or four year old" but could remember little about it. He promised to

return with his youngest son Barron. Mr Trump's mother died in August 2000 at the age of 88, but had returned to Lewis.
