Yesterday her son Matthew, 43, said his mother had put too much trust in former Wall Street trader Xiao’s methods. He said: “She was very open to alternative therapies. “She had been

thoroughly convinced that it would have a benefit towards beating a disease she’d battled since her late 50s.” Mr Carr-Gomm, who lives in New Zealand, added: “I’m certain if she hadn’t gone

on this course, she would still be alive today.” His mother died on October 20 at Victorian Cleeve House hotel. An inquest into her death was opened and adjourned at Salisbury last Friday.

Mrs Carr-Gomm, of Lewes, Sussex, first underwent slap therapy in Bulgaria. She wrote a blog in August, saying it left her bruised, vomiting “syrupy black stuff” and shaking with “incredibly

painful” seizures. But she praised the results as “totally astonishing”. Last year a diabetic boy aged seven died in Sydney, Australia, after a slap therapy workshop. Wiltshire Police said:

“We were called to an address in Seend on October 20 after the sudden death of a woman. “We are currently treating her death as suspicious and inquiries are ongoing. “Three people have been

arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and released on bail pending further inquiries. “A post mortem examination has been carried out but results were inconclusive. We await further

toxicology tests.”
