The WXCHARTS map shows the Atlantic storm reaching maximum speeds of 70mph by Saturday hitting Ireland, Northern Ireland and western parts of Great Britain the most. The Met Office has

issued a yellow weather warning for wind, as “damaging” gusts of up to 70mph will likely bring travel disruption. Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir said: “Temperatures will reach 16C in

any sunshine, however towards the west, this is a deep area of low pressure that’s actually been named by the Irish Met service as Storm Hannah, and it will track in through the latter part

of Friday. The Met Office has issued warnings for some strong winds across Wales, the West Country, central and southern England as this low gradually moves across these parts. “Strongest

winds on the southern flanks of this low so by Friday evening watch out for those gusts. Gusts up to 70mph in exposure, inland up to 45-55mph. Eventually the winds will ease as this ridge

moves in, but the rain will take its time to clear towards the North Sea. “So, all in all, yes some wet and windy weather to come, particularly for England and Wales, for Scotland and

Northern Ireland eventually you will see some brighter weather on Saturday, more cloud for Scotland. But again you should see some fine conditions.” The BBC also warned that the weekend will

be marked by thunderstorms and heavy rain as temperatures plummet in advance of the Atlantic storm. BBC meteorologist Sarah Keith-Lucas warned: “Storm Hannah has been named by the Irish Met

Office and it’s going to bring some particularly windy and wet weather, especially across parts of the UK through the course of Saturday. "On Friday, some sunny spells but equally some

heavy and at times thundery showers around too. “Things are also going to be feeling colder over the next few days - a real dip in temperatures. “Temperatures in the west only around 11 or

12 C but could be 17 C in the east. “Moving into Friday evening - that’s when we see the winds really picking up. “Storm Hannah moving in - initially the strongest of the winds will be

across parts of southern Ireland but by the early hours of Saturday, they’ll transfer into the southwest of England and Wales too. “Lots of showers on the map as we start our weekend. “Storm

Hannah is going to be really deepening and developing, especially towards the south of that area of low pressure. “So that’s where we’ll see the strongest of the winds. “Especially across

Wales and the southwest of England. “Widespread gales, possibly severe gales, with gusts possibly around 60 mph or more. “Those strong winds and heavy showers push east across much of the UK

during the afternoon. “A return to some sunnier skies in the west towards the end of the day. “A ridge of higher pressure building in for Sunday, so Sunday certainly the better day of the

weekend for many.”
