Kim Jong-un has become the first North Korean leader to enter South Korea. After crossing into South Korea, Kim entered the Peace House in the Demilitarized Zone where the summit is taking

place, and signed the guestbook with a message of peace. In South Korea, crowds gathered around the country to witness the historic moment being broadcast live on television. The day

produced dramatic images and emotions for Koreans and a sweeping declaration. The leaders of North and South Korea pledged at their historic summit to work for the "complete

denuclearisation" of the Korean peninsula. The first inter-Korean summit in more than a decade was marked by smiles, handshakes and embraces. The summit continued throughout the day,

followed by a banquet in the evening where the leaders dined on food that is laden with symbolism. South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong-un agreed to work with the United States

and China this year to declare an official end to the 1950s Korean War and establish a permanent peace agreement.
