Valdez (played by Peter Gadiot) left Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga) and went to work as a rat for Devon Finch (Jamie Hector). James told her he was leaving as he didn't want to work for

someone who questioned his loyalty after she thought he was the mole when it was later revealed Kelly Anne Van Awken (Molly Burnett) was the one betraying her. He left though so he could

protect Teresa from a distance, finding out what the CIA knew and making sure she was safe. But while James was missing from pretty much the entirety of season four, he did make a

films Night Wolf in the same year and then in 2013 was in the film The Forbidden Girl and television movie Hot Mess. Also in 2013, Gadiot starred in a few episodes of Channel 4's comedy

Fresh Meat alongside comedian Jack Whitehall. However, his real big US break came later on that same year. Gadiot played the mysterious genie Cyprus in ABC's Once Upon a Time in

Wonderland. He was in this role of the hit series for a year before making other smaller appearances in popular television series such as Matador, Tut and Supergirl. Gadiot finally started

to become known to the masses when he started starring in Queen of the South as James Valdez. According to IMDB, Gadiot will be in new mystery film Another Girl which is a sequel to the 2014
