Jonnie Irwin had a tough search on his hands when he was tasked with finding the perfect holiday home in Spain’s Costa Calida. Michelle and Paul were eager to get started but their £70,000
maximum budget proved to be a problem for the Channel 4 expert. However, after two disappointing searches, Jonnie hit out at the couple as he revealed how stressful he was finding the hunt.
Jonnie first took the pair to a two-bed apartment on a popular golf complex in Alhama de Murcia. The couple was impressed by the on-site amenities and stunning views, but were disappointed
when they took a look inside. “Is the space what you’re looking for?” Jonnie asked. “I mean we are using it as a holiday home,” Paul politely remarked while Michelle said: “It’s a bit on
the small side.” READ MORE: A PLACE IN THE SUN'S JASMINE HARMAN SPEAKS OUT ON MAKE-UP FAIL “I prefer his answer,” Jonnie joked before showing them around the small property. “There’s
room for improvement,” Michelle confirmed as she admitted the apartment was too small for them. “You could have given me more than £70,000,” Jonnie joked. “There’s going to be elements of
compromise.” In order to give the couple more space, the expert took them to an older style apartment. The expert pulled out all the stops for the third property, a two-bed apartment in La
Torre Golf Resort. The luxury development impressed Paul and Michelle immediately as Jonnie hinted at how stressful he was finding the search. When asked what she thought of the
development, Michelle observed: “It looks expensive.” Jonnie confirmed the property was over budget at £75,000 but he’d been told the owner would be willing to negotiate. “Let’s see if the
inside matches up to the outside,” Paul added. “You said that before and it didn’t,” Jonnie commented. “I’m getting nervous now. “Let’s have a look and you can throw me into the pool
afterwards.” However, Jonnie needn’t have worried as the couple fell in love with the garden apartment. Unfortunately, Paul and Michelle weren’t able to agree on a price that suited both and
the owner. _A PLACE IN THE SUN AIRS WEEKDAYS ON CHANNEL 4 AT 4PM._
