"Something happened on the first lap, I don't even know who he hit," Marko told ServusTV. "He lost quite a bit of downforce. He was complaining about understeer the whole
race and we knew there was nothing we could do about it. We told him to make the best of it and he did a great job in these conditions." Marko has also taken several opportunities to
dig out Ricciardo for his muted form since returning to the Red Bull family. He recently urged the Aussie to 'come up with something soon' to avoid losing his VCARB seat to Liam
Lawson ahead of the 2025 campaign. He switched his stance while discussing Ricciardo's performance in Austria, though, insisting that he is moving in the right direction after making a
slow start to the season. "After the relatively bad result in Barcelona, I think it was very important for him to show that the update, with the right direction and the right rear wing,
also works," said Marko. "That is a positive thing, just like his result." Ricciardo finished in ninth place at the Red Bull Ring to claim two points on his landmark 250th
appearance in F1. He dominated VCARB team-mate Yuki Tsunoda for the entire weekend but remains adrift of the Japanese driver in the current standings. It remains to be seen how Perez and
Ricciardo will fare at Silverstone, with plenty of valuable points up for grabs at the home of British racing. The battle for victory is set to be another straight fight between Verstappen
and Lando Norris but Mercedes will also be optimistic following George Russell's surprise win in Austria.
