Arsenal are reportedly edging closer to agreeing a deal with Mikel Arteta, which would see the former Gunners midfielder become the club’s new manager. But, Arteta, who is currently the
assistant manager at Manchester City, is yet to inform Pep Guardiola and co. whether he wants to leave the Etihad Stadium in order to become Arsenal manager. Arteta has told City that he’s
held initial talks with the Gunners. Emirates Stadium chiefs were spotted leaving the Spaniard’s apartment in the north west in the early hours of Monday morning. But, Arteta still hasn’t
made it clear to Guardiola whether he intends to take the job, if it’s officially offered to him, according to The Athletic. The Citizens are also yet to receive an official approach from
Arsenal to start negotiations with the club. JUST IN: MIKEL ARTETA HAS THREE QUESTIONS FOR ARSENAL BOARD BEFORE MAKING DECISION The talks with Kroenke would see Arteta officially agree to
become Arsenal manager, if they strike a deal with the Citizens. But, that meeting is yet to happen, and Arteta is still to inform City of his plans. The Spaniard has, however, maintained
his professionalism at the Etihad Stadium. He’s insisted that all talks take place outside of work hours so that the process doesn’t interfere with his plans at City. The 37-year-old has
been learning from Guardiola at City during his three years in the north west. He joined City in July 2016, after Guardiola took over at the Etihad. He’s since worked with the former
Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss for 200 matches. But, the only match that Arteta oversaw for City was a 2-1 defeat at home in the Champions League to Lyon. Guardiola was suspended for the
match after being sent off against Liverpool in the previous season.
