Barcelona chiefs are on the hunt for a new left-back to provide competition for Jordi Alba after being left less than impressed by Lucas Digne. According to Spanish publication _Don Balon_,
Alaba has emerged as the club’s top target but they face competition from Real Madrid. However, it is claimed the Bayern Munich ace prefers a move to the Nou Camp over the Bernabeu. Alaba
has three-and-a-half years left on his contract but could reportedly leave the Allianz Arena this summer. The Austria international has been a regular for Bayern Munich since 2011 and has
made nearly 300 appearances. As well as impressing at left-back, he can also perform in central midfield and at centre-back. Barcelona signed France international Digne from Paris
Saint-Germain for around £14million in 2016 but he has failed to win a regular place in the team. He has been limited to 12 starts in all competitions this term and could be moved on to make
room for Alaba. Real Madrid fancy Alaba as they hunt a long-term successor to Brazil international Marcelo. France youth international Theo Hernandez, who joined from Atletico Madrid last
summer, has struggled to impress for Zinedine Zidane’s team.
