The Sixers threw away a 16-point lead as the Magic went on a 21-0 run - the second-longest unanswered run in the NBA this season after the Oklahoma City Thunder went 22-0 against the Phoenix
Suns. Terrence Ross’ go-ahead three-pointer late in the fourth quarter ensured a 111-106 defeat on the road. That was in spite of Joel Embiid recording his first ever triple-double with 19
points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists - while Butler put down 13 points on six-of-12 shooting. It was the 29-year-old swingman’s first outing for Philadelphia since a trade from the
Timberwolves went through on Monday, followed with Justin Patton as Minnesota received Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round draft pick. Things fell apart for
All-Star guard Butler with the Wolves due to off-season tensions with his team-mates - notably Karl-Anthony Towns - and coach Tom Thiboudeau though his on-court performances were not
affected. And having declared his hope of competing for championships when he first arrived in Philly, Butler declared that once he and his new team gel - they will be a serious threat. “So
far we all get along. That’s the first thing,” Butler said in a sly jibe at Minnesota. “We all want each other to be great, we’re all talking about where we’re supposed to be and what we see
out there on the floor. “It’s coming sooner rather than later. We’re going to be just fine. Once we put this thing together, we’re gonna be tough. "When you put really good basketball
players out there on the court, it's always going to look good, as long as you play basketball the right way. I think we all do that. "We just came up a little bit short [against
Orlando], we're OK, back to the drawing board, to practice, get a W next time." And Sixers coach Brett Brown is also optimistic, given Butler had just one shoot-around ahead of his
first game. "I mean, it's hard," he said of the new-look line-up. "He comes in, and he's trying to do the right thing. “You're trying to put in some plays
this morning at shoot-around. He's trying to figure everybody else out, [and] they're trying to figure him out. "It's going to take time. It's going to take time. I
think, in general, you sort of see what you have in him, and it's incredibly exciting." Defeat to Orlando leaves the 76ers on 9-7 for the season and sat fifth in the Eastern
Conference. Butler will hope to build on his first display when he makes his home debut at the Wells Fargo Center against the Utah Jazz on Saturday (midnight UK time).
