Roger Federer says he will not rush himself back to full fitness after undergoing knee surgery in February. The world No 4 timed his operation to perfection as he did not miss any ATP
events. The Swiss star limped to the Australian Open semi-finals before playing an exhibition clash against Rafael Nadal in South Africa. He then opted to skip the clay season to undergo the
knife on a niggling issue so he could be fully fit for his favoured grass campaign. However, the coronavirus pandemic quickly swept across the globe and tennis events have been cancelled
until late July. It has allowed Federer the time to recover while his rivals are not able to gain any advantage. But 20-time Grand Slam winner did not confirm if he will return to the court
as soon as tournaments commence. "I’ve been hitting against the wall a little bit," Federer said during an Instagram Live chat with Nadal. "Rehab, with the knee, it’s okay. I
had a really good first six weeks and then it was a bit slower. "Now, it’s getting better again. I have plenty of time, so there is no stress, no rush. "If there is anything
positive - that’s the only thing really - that I have plenty of time. Meanwhile, Nadal admitted he has not not picked up a racket since being placed in lockdown. "I am not playing
tennis, I do not have a court at home and I miss it a little,” Nadal admitted to Federer. "I am sticking to my physical routines. From the gym of my academy, they were able to bring me
some machines when lockdown began - so I try to work a little in the morning, a little in the afternoon. "It is very important to have both the head and the body focused and it is what
I am trying to do at all times."
