Sometimes it's nice to stay in a hotel. Your bed is made for you, you get pampered and you often wake up to a view that's much more beautiful than the one from your bedroom window.

Another highlight of an overnight stay is bagging some bargains. Us Brits know that many people like to take freebies from hotel rooms to save a little money and snap up some niceties. But

there are a few rules on what you can help yourself to. TikTok creator, costoflivingcrisistips, recently shared a video revealing exactly what you can take home with you. It turns out, you

can walk away with quite a few freebies. Essentially, if something is free for you to use in the room, you can generally take it home. Even down to the tea, coffee and sugar that's been

left for you to use. In the video, he said: "It's all complimentary and they expect you to use it in your stay, so I don't think they'll have an issue with you taking

that stuff. But, what else can you take? Well, in hotel rooms there's not a lot of stuff. There's this disposable bag, I'll take that. I'll definitely take the toilet

roll." Anything like towels, robes and coat hangers he said to avoid due to the fact that it's considered hotel property. On the flipside, toiletries like soaps and shower gels are

fine to pop into your bag. According to TripSavvy, if an item is complimentary, then it's fine for you to take it. It was even noted that the slippers will get thrown away after a

person leaves, so you can even take them too. Stationery, pens, notepaper, postcards and envelopes are also perfectly fine to snag. This is because they often feature the hotel logo, so it

works as good advertisment for the brand. In the past, it's been reported that some guests have taken towels, irons, hairdryers, pillows and blankets from some hotels. In some cases,

items such as cable boxes, clocks, paintings, ashtrays, light bulbs, TV remote controls and even the Bible have been taken. But, you should never do this, as all these items belong to the

hotel and should therefore remain in the room. This means you need to be careful with what you decide to pick up. Since the video was shared on TikTok, it's been viewed more than 40,000

times, and people thought the advice was really handy. One person said: "I used to take all the body gels, shampoos and soaps home. Plus the tea, coffee and hot chocolate (if

any)." A second replied: "I always take sops, shampoos, pen if hotel logo is on it." Some didn't see the point in snagging the items wrote, as one chimed in with:

"Why would you take anything?" Another commented: "I really couldn't be bothered." If in doubt, we'd recommend double checking with the hotel before swiping

anything. This should prevent ay action being taken against you.
