Ex-Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at the perpetrators of the terror attack that took place in Pahalgam, Kashmir on Tuesday, resulting in several loss of lives. Gavaskar questioned
the perpetrators and all those supporting them, asking what have they achieved from doing this as no land has been exchanged in the last 78 years.
At least 12 tourists have been reported injured and a handful of them lost their lives as unidentified gunmen shot them during the terror attack in Pahalgam. A father-son duo, belonging to
Gujarat, are also included in the deceased list as the Indian government has taken several measures against Pakistan, causing a major geopolitical shift.
Speaking on Star Sports ahead of the IPL 2025 game on Thursday, the 75-year-old questioned why can't people live in peace and make their respective countries strong instead of resorting to
violence.
"I send my condolences to all the families who have lost their loved and dear ones. It has effected all of us Indians....I just wanna ask a question to all the perpetrators, and all those
who backed them (the terrorists), their handlers - What has all this fighting achieved? For the last 78 years, not one millimetre of land has exchanged hands, is it? So for the next 78,000
years, nothing is going change. So why don't we live in peace instead, and make our country strong? So that is my appeal."
Mumbai Indians and SunRisers Hyderabad paid tributes to the terror attack victims
A day after the terror attack, players of Mumbai Indians and SunRisers Hyderabad alongside the umpires and match officials observed a moment's silence over the victims losing their lives
during the incident ahead of their IPL 2025 game. Additionally, the BCCI had announced that there will be no cheerleaders and fireworks for the match between the two sides.
