Baltimore concludes 3-year contract extension with UPM-Kymmene
The Maryland Port Administration will announce the completion of a new three-year contract extension between the Port of Baltimore and Finnish paper giant UPM-Kymmene today. The deal
guarantees the Mid-Atlantic port more than half-million tons of forest products imported from Finland annually for the next five years. In addition, the agreement calls for the use of
556,822 square feet of existing covered shed space and the construction of another 300,000-square-foot paper shed to be completed next year. Baltimore is ranked the largest U.S. port for
imported forest products and one of two ports that UPM-Kymmene uses to supply its North American customers.
