Further suspected targeted arson attacks have shook neighbourhoods across Stockton, with some residents even being forewarned to leave their homes. As reported, police reportedly advised
people living on Windmill Terrace in Tilery on Monday night to leave their homes prior to a 'petrol bomb' attack. One neighbour, who stayed in her home, told Teesside Live she
heard "a pop" before looking out to see the neighbouring garden alight. Earlier in the night, a car was reportedly petrol-bombed at Piper Knowle Road in the Hardwick area of the
town. Three other similar incidents on the same night are being investigated by police, which the force says are also believed to have been targeted and involved the use of accelerants.
Those occurred at Heaton Road in Billingham and Trefoil Court and Newton Walk in Norton. It comes after the previous night saw numerous fires in areas of the town which police believe were
linked. Four people, including a 15-year-old boy, have been arrested in connection with those incidents. In an update released by police on Tuesday, a spokesperson said: "Overnight
(Monday into today) police received reports of incidents on Heaton Road, Piper Knowle Road, Windmill Terrace, Trefoil Court and Newton Walk in Stockton where accelerants were discharged onto
vehicles or towards addresses. "No-one was injured in these incidents and whilst officers are keeping an open mind into these incidents which are believed to be targeted and not
random, we are investigating whether they may be linked with previously reported incidents from Sunday/Monday. Four people arrested in connection with Sunday/Monday’s incidents remain in
custody being questioned." She said officers remain in the affected areas conducting high visibility reassurance patrols while "extensive enquiries" continue. Images taken at
Windmill Terrace on Tuesday show a cordon had been placed around the property. Next-door neighbours told Teesside Live they were warned it may happen by police at about 7.30pm on Monday -
around four hours before the attack. One said: "The police asked me if I could move somewhere safe. They said we have to take the threat of a petrol bomb seriously. "She said
we'll put you in a safe house and I said I've got family. I stayed with my son." She returned to the house after it was targeted. "When they said they've been and
gone, I came back home," she said. Another neighbour also said they were told of the threat of the attack earlier in the night. She was in bed when the house was targeted. "I
didn't see anything I just heard a pop," she said. "I was in the bedroom watching telly, obviously not sleeping. "I heard the pop and I thought I'll have a nose and
saw the garden on fire. I shouted to our lad, grabbed my phone and rang 999. "I didn't hear or see anything. I just heard the pop." A spokesperson for Cleveland Fire Brigade
said a car fire spread to the house at 11.30pm. Two crews attended from Thornaby Fire Station and used one hose reel, two breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventilator to extinguish
the flames. "There was fire damage to the door and smoke damage to the property," said the spokesperson. The incident followed a fire on the same night in Piper Knowle Road in
Hardwick when a car was reportedly set alight with a petrol bomb. Two crews attended from Stockton Fire Station and used one hose reel to extinguish the fire. The incident is under
investigation with Cleveland Police. A spokeswoman for the force said officers remain in the affected areas conducting high visibility reassurance patrols and "extensive enquiries"
continue. "We would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers and we would also welcome information which could assist our investigations," she said. "Please
call 101 if you have information or footage from any of the locations above. If you don’t want to speak to police you can pass information anonymously to www.crimestoppers-uk.org or phone
them on 0800 555 111." FOR TEESSIDE UPDATES AND BREAKING NEWS DIRECT TO YOUR INBOX EVERY DAY, GO HERE TO SIGN UP TO OUR FREE NEWSLETTER JOIN TEESSIDE LIVE'S WHATSAPP COMMUNITY FOR
