Another young Brit allegedly tried to smuggle cannabis from Thailand, within hours of the arrest of a Billingham teen. Charlotte May Lee was arrested for an alleged attempt to take £1.2m
worth of the synthetic drug Kush into Sri Lanka last Monday, May 12, the Mirror reports. The 21-year-old's arrest at Bandaranaike International airport in Colombo, came just a day after
Teessider Bella May Culley was detained in Georgia. The pair are both said to have flown out of the same Thai airport, with The Guardian reporting that "both young women had flown
alone from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport". As reported, Miss Culley, 18, was arrested at Tbilisi airport on Sunday, May 11, shortly after her frantic family reported her missing in
Thailand. According to reports, Miss Lee, from south London, had travelled to Thailand a fortnight ago, after telling friends she was meeting a man there. Her case bears similarities to the
arrest of Miss Culley whose grandfather previously revealed Bella was meeting a man in Thailand. William Culley, 80, said: "She went to the Philippines to see somebody, a lad there, who
she used to go out with a couple of years ago, who was working out there. She said, 'I’m going on my own, but I’m meeting Ross out there.' Or Russ, I’m not sure what his name is.
He was working out there for his father’s company or something – but now I wonder if what she told me was true." Miss Culley has appeared in court accused of attempting to smuggle up to
30 pounds of cannabis into the country. The British teenager first flew to the Philippines but is thought to have travelled to Thailand around May 3. THE CASE OF 'PREGNANT'
TEESSSIDE TEEN BELLA MAY CULLEY FROM MISSING IN THAILAND TO 'DRUG MULE' PROBE IN GEORGIA Here's a quick recap on articles we have published on Bella May Culley: Prosecutors in
Georgia have reportedly asked for 55 days to gather evidence ahead of a trial. Miss Culley's lawyer, Mariam Kublashvili, has said no medical examinations have been carried out at the
Georgia prison, despite the 18-year-old saying she is pregnant. Regarding Miss Lee's case, a spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, said: "We are
supporting a British woman who has been arrested in Sri Lanka and are in contact with her family and the local authorities.” READ HERE: Bella May Culley: Timeline of Teesside teen's
