The sudden deaths of two neighbours in separate homes within a quiet North Yorkshire cul-de-sac remain under investigation. North Yorkshire Police was called to an address in Gatesgarth
Close, Scarborough, on Monday, May 26, following the death of a 69-year-old man. This incident raised concerns as it followed a similar death the previous week, on Wednesday, May 21, when a
49-year-old man unexpectedly passed away in a neighbouring property. Detectives have been investigating whether there is any connection between the two deaths. Searches of the properties are
ongoing and a police presence will be maintained over the weekend until all investigations at the residences have been concluded. Police have previously stated that they do not believe
there is any threat to the wider community, reports Yorkshire Live. It was reported earlier in the week that, as a precautionary measure, two adjoining properties were evacuated and the
residents are being provided with alternative accommodation. A spokesperson for the force stated: "The investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances that led to their
deaths and the cause. At this time there is no suggestion that there is any risk to the wider community and our enquiries so far have not led to any change in this position. "Our thanks
go to local people, in particular the residents of Gatesgarth Close for their patience and understanding while we remain at the scene. Our thoughts remain with the men's families who
are being supported by specially trained officers at this sad time." FOR TEESSIDE UPDATES AND BREAKING NEWS DIRECT TO YOUR INBOX EVERY DAY, GO HERE TO SIGN UP TO OUR FREE NEWSLETTER
