A coked-up reveller repeatedly drove his car at people outside a Middlesbrough pub - pinning one woman to a wall and knocking another victim over. Michael Kinlan, 23, had got into a dispute
inside The Green Tree pub, on Gilkes Street in central Middlesbrough, minutes earlier, on June 16 last year. Teesside Crown Court heard the fight broke out after "someone accused him of
being involved in a non-fatal shooting weeks earlier." Outside he began kicking and punching people before he got into his Vauxhall Astra parked at the front of the pub. One woman
began shouting at him, and threw her glass at his windscreen. Kinlan crashed into the car parked in front of him and then reversed. He drove straight at a group of people - as the crowd
screamed and shouted. He reversed, and then drove straight at the woman who had thrown the glass at his car, trapping her between a wall and the Astra. Several people began banging on his
windows and kicking his tyres. Kinlan was caught on CCTV, as he reversed once more, and his victim fell to the ground. He drove at the group for a third time, hitting his victim again and
knocking a woman over. Kinlan then drove off, leaving the woman lying on the ground. On Wednesday, Kinlan appeared in court on video link from Holme House prison. Anthony Pettengel,
prosecuting, said that what happened "may be seen as a revenge attack against the main victim, following an earlier argument with her." The woman was left with broken thigh bone
and further injuries that required surgery on her leg. She did not want her statement, which described the long term impact of Kinlan's actions on her, to be read out in court. The
second victim also suffered a leg injury, and described "the terrible pain" she was left in after she was hit. The court heard that she has now recovered. At an earlier hearing,
Kinlan, of Central Avenue in Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to: * dangerous driving; * causing grievous bodily harm with intent; * assault occasioning actual bodily harm; * affray. He has a
previous conviction for the possession of cannabis and a caution for violence in 2016. Robert Mochrie, mitigating, told the court that Kinlan said he had "taken cocaine for the first
time in his life, that night." Mr Mochrie said his client has "acted in an emotionally-charged situation" and that he was genuinely remorseful for what he had done. Judge
Abdul Iqbal told Kinlan that he "appeared drunk" when he left the pub, "people were shouting, swearing and threatening violence. You started to attack several people -
punching and kicking various people. One woman was remonstrating with you. She was angry. "She threw a glass towards your windscreen. In response, you drove towards her, knocking her
and another woman to the ground. You drove at a group of people again - this time you intentionally trapped her against a wall." The judge jailed Kinlan for 10-years-and-two-months, and
disqualified him from driving for nine-years-and-seven-months. After the sentencing, Detective Constable Genyfer Smith from Cleveland Police, said: “Kinlan was driving dangerously and
without a driver’s licence. His actions were extremely irresponsible and reckless. One of the victims has life changing injuries as a result of this incident. “Kinlan has shown no remorse
for his actions and failed to co-operate with officers by replying ‘no comment’ throughout the interview process. This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims to have gone through. The
incident was captured on CCTV which we used as evidence against Kinlan in court and this allowed us to bring him to justice for the crimes he has committed.” FOR DAILY NEWS FROM
