Tyrhys Dolan has hinted that he will be looking for a new club this summer, despite Blackburn Rovers remaining close to his heart. The forward, 23, scored seven goals and added six assists
for Rovers last season as they mounted an unexpected top-six challenge. However, out of contract, he is free to leave Ewood Park this summer and move elsewhere, with plenty of interest in
his services. Though Middlesbrough have been credited with interest, he is not understood to be a primary target this summer. Blackburn have offered the wide man a new deal which means,
because he is under 24, he would not be a free transfer, with Rovers due compensation. The fee would initially be down to the two clubs to agree but would be decided by an independent
arbitration panel if a fee could not be agreed and could end up being sizeable. Hinting that he will seek a move rather than accept a new Blackburn deal, Dolan told the Times: “I’m very
grateful to Blackburn. I’ve been through some of the worst as well as the best times in my life while being there. The club means so much to me. But it’s a short career and I’ve always
wanted to play at the top level, and at this point, I’m a free agent with the belief in myself to perform anywhere." SHEFFIELD UNITED RETAINED LIST Sheffield United have released their
retained list following their defeat in the Championship play-off final, with the only players leaving them as things stand being their loan players. Jack Robinson played enough games to
trigger a 12-month extension, while discussions continue with Rhian Brewster over a new deal. When manager Chris Wilder was in charge at Middlesbrough, and indeed in previous years at
Sheffield United prior to that, he always used the retained list to make public which contracted players had been made available for transfer that summer too. However, such information was
not published by the Blades this year. WATFORD MAKING EARLY TRANSFER PROGRESS Hoping to improve on last season and make a challenge for the top six in the new season, Watford are making very
early progress. As well as already announcing Paulo Pezzolano as the new head coach, they’ve already announced the signing of former Peterborough midfielder Hector Kyprianou. On top of
that, the Watford Observer says the Hornets are closing in on signing free-agent keeper Nathan Baxter after he left Bolton. They are also closing in on a new left-back who is unnamed at this
stage and then also want to sign a new striker this summer. GARY ROWETT EXPECTING BIGGER OXFORD BUDGET Having kept Oxford United in the Championship, Gary Rowett is hoping to have a bigger
budget this summer to improve his playing squad. The U’s boss is hoping to establish his side as a second-tier outfit next term and is hoping to improve the squad during the summer transfer
window. Speaking to the Oxford Mail, he said: “We’ve spoken that if we want to have next season as strong as this season, we’re obviously going to have to increase the budget and spend more
on players, but at the same time, that’s always going to be pretty sensible for a club like ours. “That’s always down to the owner and the leadership team. It’s easy asking as a head coach
this is what we need. It’s easy for me and Ed [Waldron, head of football operations] to go cap in hand and say ‘ideally we need this amount of millions to achieve something really good
again’ and it comes down to how much any owner wants to pay really. “Everyone has been incredibly supportive so far. The objective this season was to stay in the division and the objective
next season will be just to improve on that. In an ideal world, we need to invest sensibly to get to that point.”
