QPR have suffered a blow in their attempts to replace Marti Cifuentes this summer, with former Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup rejecting a move to Loftus Road. That is according to
reports in Thorop’s native Denmark. Thorup was understood to have held talks in London with the Hoops but has ultimately decided to reject their offer and remain a free agent this summer
after his harsh dismissal at Carrow Road with two games remaining last season. Cifuentas hasn’t yet been officially sacked by QPR but was placed on gardening leave ahead of the final game of
the season. It followed hints of unrest behind the scenes as he spoke of the importance of being ‘aligned’ while being linked with the vacant role at West Brom. Ryan Mason is set to land
the role at the Hawthorns this summer. WATFORD COMPLETE SECOND SIGNING Watford are wasting no time with their transfer business this summer, with free-agent goalkeeper Nathan Baxter their
second confirmed signing. They’d previously announced the arrival of midfielder Hector Kyprianou from Peterborough. Baxter was a free agent this summer after leaving Bolton Wanderers and
makes the move to Vicarage Road where he is likely to be main backup next season. After the window opened officially on Sunday, there are so far only six completed Championship transfers so
far. Three of them are loan moves being made permanent and two of them are Watford’s additions. NEW HULL CITY BOSS HAS UNHAPPY SEND OFF Sergej Jakirovic is expected to be appointed the new
Hull City boss this week - with our sister site Hull Live claiming he will be holding a meeting on Wednesday to complete his visa application. He took charge of his final game for Turkish
Super Lig side Kayserispor on Sunday. It was an unhappy ending for the Bosnian, however. As well as seeing his side lose 2-1 to Samsunspor, Jakirovic was harshly red carded in the game. That
came as Samsunspor threw bottles at his technical area. Initially yellow carded for his reaction, he turned and ironically applauded the supporters, leading to a second yellow and his
dismissal. MANNING CLOSES IN ON FIRST NORWICH SIGNING Another manager on the move this summer is Liam Manning, whose switch from Bristol City to Norwich is expected to be confirmed in the
coming days. The Canaries are set to sign goalkeeper Dan Grimshaw from Plymouth Argyle after a £600k fee was agreed, according to Sky Sports. Grimshaw previously worked under Manning at
Lommel SK. He will arrive to replace Angus Gunn, who was released at the end of his contract this summer. It’s a further blow for recently-relegated Plymouth, who are losing head coach Miron
Muslic to Schalke this summer too. OXFORD CHIEF’S STADIUM ADMISSION Oxford United recently secured a 12-month extension of the use of the Kassam Stadium, meaning their tenancy of the
three-sided ground will continue until June 2027. But Oxford are trying to seek council planning permission to build their own ground, with the Kassam owned privately. U’s CEO Tim Williams
has now warned that getting permission for the new stadium is of critical importance. He said: “When our lease at the Kassam Stadium runs out, we won’t have a home and a stadium to play in.
If we don’t have a stadium, there is a risk we won’t have a football club.”
