Acclaimed actor Matthew Goode is poised to star in a gripping new Netflix series that will undoubtedly captivate crime drama enthusiasts. The forthcoming series, titled Dept Q, will be
available for streaming from 29 May. It promises to showcase a different side of Goode, who is a familiar face with an impressive list of credits to his name. Goode will portray DCI Carl
Morck, a brilliant yet difficult colleague. As per the show's synopsis provided by Netflix, his biting sarcasm has earned him no friends within the Edinburgh police force. Following a
tragic shooting that results in the death of a young PC, leaves his partner paralysed, and sees him relegated to the basement, he reluctantly assumes the role of head of Department Q; a
newly established cold case unit. The department is merely a PR gimmick, designed to divert public attention from the shortcomings of an underfunded, failing police force that is all too
happy to see him go. However, more by chance than intention, Carl begins to assemble a team of misfits with everything to prove, reports Edinburgh Live. So, when the long-cold trail of a
high-ranking civil servant who vanished several years ago starts to warm up, Carl finds himself back in his element - shaking things up and refusing to take no for an answer. Dept Q, based
on the novel series by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen, is set to become the next must-see title on the streaming giant's platform. But who is the star of the series Matthew Goode? What
are his thoughts on fame? Where might you have spotted him before and is he married? Here's everything you need to know. WHO IS MATTHEW GOODE? Born on 3 April 1978 in Exeter, Devon,
Goode is the son of a geologist father and a nurse mother who also directed amateur theatre productions. He is the youngest of five siblings, with a brother, two half-brothers, and a
half-sister, television presenter Sally Meen. He attended the independent Exeter School and has mentioned that his parents opted to provide him and his brother with a private education after
they came into some inheritance. Following this, he went on to study theatre at the University of Birmingham before enrolling at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. This

background in the fashion industry. Goode has previously recounted the moment he met his wife on his doorstep upon returning from a filming stint in Poland. He fondly recounted to the
Scottish Herald, "She was sitting on my doorstep when I came home from filming in Poland or somewhere. She was best friends with my neighbour. She'd locked herself out. I was a bit
flustered and quite tired. The way I remember it I opened the door and carried her bag up. But apparently I shrugged my shoulders, didn't speak to her, opened the door but didn't
carry her suitcase upstairs." Matthew Goode proudly states that the joys of his life are his family – being happily married for two decades and fathering three children: Matilda (born
2009), Teddie (born 2013), and Ralph (born 2015). WHERE YOU'VE SEEN MATTHEW GOODE BEFORE? In an exciting departure from his traditionally suave roles, Dept Q showcases Matthew Goode in
a grittier light. His career took off with romantic comedies like Chasing Liberty alongside Mandy Moore and Match Point featuring Scarlett Johansson. His versatility showed in the crime
drama flick The Lookout by Scott Frank, who is also the brains behind Dept Q. Other notable performances include his roles in Brideshead Revisited (2008), Zack Snyder's ambitious
Watchmen adaptation, Stoker and The Imitation Game. Matthew Goode has etched unforgettable characters in major TV series too, as Henry Talbot in Downton Abbey, Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st
Earl of Snowdon in The Crown and Matthew de Clairmont in A Discovery of Witches, earning him an Emmy nod for his role on The Crown. VIEWS ON FAME Matthew Goode has shared his thoughts on
fame, stating that he doesn't consider himself extremely famous and prefers it that way. In an interview with The Telegraph, he mentioned: "I don't know how I've
cultivated it, but it's a good level (of fame) to be at. I can walk around and no one gives a sh**." He further expressed his aversion to intense stardom, saying: "I've
got a lot of (very famous) friends and I don't want that. I don't want to be a star, it seems like a f*****g nightmare to me...some people I know...they've had to give up so
much. They can literally do nothing normally for the rest of their lives. Sometimes someone will come up to me in the street and say something nice. We're pretty private, me and my
wife." _DEPT Q IS STREAMING ON NETFLIX FROM MAY 29._
