When I first discovered a gorgeous café in Surrey with a delicious menu and secret garden, I was very tempted to keep word of this hidden gem to myself. Situated in a town where the River
Thames branches off to form the River Wey, Weybridge is a idyllic location with more eateries than you can count. It's a competitive market for restaurateurs, so each and every one is
unique (maybe except for some chain brands, but that being said, even those are lovely). There truly is something for everyone, with unusual cuisines from all over the world including
Lebanese, Turkish, Italian and Nepalese. If you're planning your next dog walk day out, I would highly recommend giving this town a visit. Many establishments are dog friendly, meaning
you won't need to leave family members with four paws at home. ABOUT THE TOWN Weybridge is an attractive town with a high street at the centre with a selection of independent and
branded shops including Lark, Sweaty Betty and Space NK. The town also has some great charity shops if thrifting is your thing, many shops are also dog friendly, which is a huge plus. You
can also find plenty of home design shops if you are looking for inspiration. Some stores aren't dog friendly - Neptune isn't but Hill House Interiors is. The town is believed to
have been established as a settlement as far back as the 7th century, and was the former site of a Royal palace back in the 1500s. King Henry VIII selected Weybridge as the destination to
build Oatlands Palace, just north of the town centre. WHERE TO WALK If you like to beat the crowds and catch some morning sun during an early dog walk, followed by brunch in a gorgeous
setting, I have found the perfect place. Of course, a walk along the River Wey is in order, this time of year if you go at the right time of day you can spot all kinds of wildlife, including
birds, newts, frogs and stag beetles. There are a couple of different routes to take, SurreyLive has covered a couple of loops which you can take. A shorter, five kilometre route with
rivers and fields can be found HERE, or if you're up for something a bit more intense, there's an eight kilometre trail you can follow HERE. Many dogs enjoy a paddle in the river
on warm days, with plenty of sticks to chase and fields to run around in. Taking the River Wey up towards Addlestone, you'll find a gorgeous landmark called Coxes Lock, which have been
transformed into plush apartments. There's a tranquil mill pond you can take a stroll next to, while enjoying the scenery. The mill was Surrey's last commercially operated mill.
BRUNCH After a lovely long stroll, I love to pop in to this beautiful café on Weybridge High Street. This popular spot is always bustling, and it's easy to see why with a 4.8 star
rating on Google. Café Wood is designed with a contemporary and simplistic approach, with natural features. The ceiling is wood panelled with industrial style globe light bulbs, some with
greenery attached. Exposed red brick walls contrast with the plush velvety chairs with brass detailing. Friendly staff are on hand to greet customers and help show them to tables. While the
interior is gorgeous, we love to take a stroll to the back of the café, through a small corridor which leads out to an unassuming patio area. It's actually perfect for all weathers,
with heaters and an overhead covering layered with pretty pink faux flowers leaving customers wowed on approach. There's ample seating and space for dogs to stretch out on the floor.
Staff usually bring round jugs of water and take your order once you're sat down. I must admit, I typically go for the same dish at Café Wood, I like it that much. While I have veered
off and tried other meals, the same one calls me back. In terms of drinks, if you're a cold coffee person, the coffee frappe is a must. You get a huge glass and the coffee is strong but
not bitter, there's a subtle sweet flavour to the drink without it being sickly. The frappe costs £4.15, which I think it great value considering how big the portion size is. You can
also find a range of hot drinks, milkshakes and smoothies on the menu, too. Popping Boba, herbal teas and even gin and tonics can also be found on the menu. Light bites, salads, wraps and
sweet treats are served at Café Wood, but brunch is where the café truly shines. Full English comes with two of everything for £12.95, including sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes,
hash browns and eithet toast or sourdough bread. I've tried the full English a couple of times, and the value for money is great as well as the freshness. If you fancy a full English
but smaller scale the mini breakfast is a great option with just one egg, bacon rasher, sausage, hash brown, beans and bread, at £8.50. Another worthy mention is the grilled chicken wrap,
with thick chunks of juicy chicken paired with chilli mayo, tomatoes, onion, cucumber and leafy greens, for £9.95. While this is delicious, it still doesn't beat my favourite dish.
Served on soft muffin bread drizzled in creamy hollandaise sauce, the eggs royale never misses. You're served two muffins topped with thick smoked salmon and poached eggs bursting with
a golden runny centre when pieced. The dish comes with chopped cherry tomatoes and cubes of avocado, and costs £11.95. Every time I visit Café Wood I have to order a side of hash browns,
because they are thick, crisp and delicious and only cost £2.50. I'm not the only one who loves Café Wood, here's what customers are saying via Google: "Enjoy the food here so
much. Quality is super, very delicious, price is very reasonable and environment is good," another wrote: "What a great find! We were visiting Weybridge and stopped off for lunch.
"We can thoroughly recommend the sandwiches and chunky chips, which were so yummy! Piping hot and not greasy at all, just how we like them. The fried chicken here is the best in
town!" If you're in Weybridge and are looking for somewhere quiet to enjoy a refreshing coffee and tasty brunch, it's worth dropping in at Café Wood. For more information, see
