Srinagar, Feb 24: In a proactive initiative aimed at promoting community welfare, the 13th Bn of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) organised a comprehensive drug abuse awareness programme, in
collaboration with Socio Economic Empowerment of Kashmir Society (SEEKS) NGO, Wayil, Ganderbal. The event also included a Medical and Veterinary Civic Action programme at Govt. Boys Middle
School, Bakura in Ganderbal district. The programme, held on 24 February, witnessed active participation from the local community, emphasising the commitment of 13 Bn SSB Dignibal to address
critical social issues. SEEKS, an NGO expertising in raising awareness about drug abuse, also complimented the SSB’s dedication to community service. The team of NGOs presented skit drama
and songs on the ill effects of drug abuse which were appreciated by the local youths of Bakura and nearby villages. Under the medical and veterinary civic action programme, the local
residents of Bakura village were provided free medical services besides veterinary care to their livestock under the supervision of Dr Gourav Misra. The locals exhorted the collective
efforts by different agencies towards a healthier and safer society. Mukesh Singh Yadav, Commandant, 13 Bn SSB Dignibal, in his inaugural address, emphasised for a sustained drive to get
over the menace of drug abuse and its far reaching ill effects on future generations. He expressed gratitude to the residents of Bakura village for their active involvement and support in
making the initiative a success.
