Play had to be stopped for quite a while in the first half of the Championship clash between Leeds United and Birmingham City at St Andrew’s on Saturday. There is nothing boring about Leeds
United these days, is there? On Saturday lunchtime, the West Yorkshire club took on Birmingham City at St Andrew’s in the Championship (click here to read more). It was Neil Redfearn’s
second game in charge of Leeds as the caretaker-manager, and he was certainly hoping – and probably expecting – his second successive win. What the 49-year-old Englishman certainly did not
expect was Birmingham breaking the Leeds net in the first half. The incident occurred in the 38th minute of the contest when Wes Thomas scored with a powerful shot from inside the penalty
box with his left foot after collecting a pass from Brek Shea. It was the 27-year-old striker’s second goal of the match, and it dislodged the stanchion. The ground staff eventually replaced
it, but it held up play for quite a while, leading the fourth official to add nine minutes of injury time at the end of the first half. > Thomas literally broke the net with that strike.

13, 2014 Leeds were largely disappointing in the first half, but after the break they stepped up their game and eventually got the equaliser through Alex Mowatt on 76 minutes.
