Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts has revealed that he feels sorry for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts has explained to talkSPORT why
he feels sorry for current number one Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman has been in superb form for Spurs this season and Roberts is frustrated by the pressure he’s been put under by the defence of
Mauricio Pochettino’s team. “I feel sorry for Lloris because if it hadn’t have been for him this season, we’d have conceded a lot more,” said Roberts. Tottenham have conceded more goals
this season than any side in the top ten of the Premier League and they have a worse goal difference than all of the teams above them in the table. That will be a worry for Pochettino and
gives him a challenge and a clear area to work on looking ahead to next season. He may already have some defensive transfer targets in mind, but the calibre and profile of the options
Tottenham could go after, will be higher if the team secures Champions League football for next season. That competition would also be important to Tottenham’s chances of keeping Lloris, who
a number of sides might look to target in the transfer market this summer. Tottenham’s midfield and attack has been superb this season and their job will be made substantially easier if the
defence can start keeping routine clean sheets. They were poor last weekend in the defeat against Manchester United, but have an opportunity to respond positively in the match against
Leicester.
