Ian Wright has claimed that the previously ‘ridiculed’ Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale, can now ‘laugh’ at his critics who had written him off.  The Highbury legend was making reference

to how Ramsdale was viewed when Arsenal first signed him, as he told Premier League Productions (19/05/22 at 12:25 pm). Ramsdale was signed up by the Gunners, after suffering back-to-back

relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United. Added with that, the 24-year-old wasn’t an England international, so it raised further questions as to why the London club wanted to secure

his services. But, fast forward to today, he is a regular England player and Wright thinks his emergence has been ‘very, very swift’. “Aaron Ramsdale, when he went to Arsenal, he was kind

of ridiculed,” said Wright. “They said ‘oh, he had two relegations’, which I can’t see as a negative when you are young. “He has come in there. We have seen his emergence. He has been very,

very swift – and he’s playing with him (Pickford for England) on a regular basis, that will make him understand ‘Yeh, I am playing with a top keeper. I need to get myself in order’.  “Aaron

Ramsdale seems to express it (his emotions) with more fun, whereas Jordan Pickford, you probably put it down to, he does get a lot of criticism. MORE ARSENAL STORIES “Whereas Aaron Ramsdale,

he can now, look at people and laugh at them because he was written off to a certain extent. “He can now have a laugh at his own expense and a laugh with the fans because he is more relaxed

with the way he is playing.” AARON RAMSDALE HAS BEEN ONE OF ARSENAL’S BEST PLAYERS THIS SEASON It seems as though Champions League football won’t be played at Arsenal next season, which

will be a real kick in the teeth for the fans. But, it shouldn’t hide the fact that Ramsdale has been one of their standout players under Mikel Arteta – also praised by Alan Shearer. The

Gunners now have a keeper for the long-term and if they continue to progress, then it won’t be long before they return to the Champions League.
