Criminal charges were filed against three gang members in connection with a weekend shooting at a hamburger stand in which a player on Crenshaw High School’s state championship basketball
team was wounded. The Los Angeles district attorney’s office charged a 16-year-old with two counts of attempted murder, seven other felonies and two misdemeanors and said he was the youth
who fired at the Fatburger hamburger stand at 4444 S. Crenshaw Blvd. early Sunday, striking Troy Batiste, 18, in the thigh. Teammate Marcus Williams, also 18, suffered superficial gunshot
wounds in his back. A 14-year-old was charged with malicious mischief, and Darnell Washington, 21, was charged with driving a getaway car. Two other suspects, Dwayne Reed, 19, and Melvin
Williams, 18, remain in custody but have not been charged.
