ATHENS — A 75-year-old woman was pulled alive from the ruins of her house in the southern Greek city of Kalamata 10 days after a powerful quake there killed 20 people, the state-run radio

reported Wednesday.

Angeliki Persente was calling for help and finally caught the attention of a passer-by.

Rescuers found her in the debris of her home with some of her cats and chickens, newspapers said.

She was taken to a hospital, where she was said to be improving. She was not reported to have any serious injury, the radio said.
