writing and section contest. The Times’ ranking was in the category for papers with circulation above 175,000. Other Times work receiving honors--all honorable mentions--were the
investigative series on Carl Scheer of the L.A. Clippers, Clipper finances and the Clipper-Sports Arena parking controversy by Sam McManis and Tom Farrey; a feature on Reggie Jackson by Tom
Friend, and The Times Sunday sports section. The Orange County Register was ranked among the top 10 sections in 175,000 and above in daily and special section categories and received an
