A private twin-engine airplane made a belly landing at Fox Airfield in Lancaster, but the four people on board escaped injury. Capt. Michael Waters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department
said pilot Harry Richardson of Lancaster was landing the Cessna 310 at the airfield when instruments told him that the nose wheel was not entirely down or locked. An FAA officer said
Richardson aborted that landing, declared an emergency and made a second approach short of the runway, during which the nose gear and main landing gear both collapsed. Waters said the plane
was owned by Frank Visco, who was a passenger along with two other men who were not identified.
