The Senior Citizen Center at 280 E. Lincoln Ave. will be closed beginning Friday for the month of September to remove asbestos from the ceilings, city officials said. “The risk management
department found the asbestos, and we’re just trying to get it out,” said Steve Swayne, manager of community services for the city. The asbestos removal is a precautionary measure, and
Swayne said he doubted that the material posed any immediate health hazard. A temporary office in a trailer at the site will house staff, the Meals-on-Wheels program and the Senior Club’s
travel operations. Most of the center’s programs have been canceled during September. Similar programs are available at the West Anaheim Senior Center at 1800 West Ball Road. The center is
expected to reopen Sept. 29. MORE TO READ
