Golf enthusiasts are invited to tee off July 26 with former Detroit Tigers Manager Sparky Anderson at a tournament to raise money for Many Mansions, a nonprofit organization dedicated to
providing affordable housing to low-income residents. The tournament is the group’s first attempt at hosting a major fund-raising event. “We need to raise more money,” said Joe Smolarksi, a
Many Mansions spokesman. “This is a very worthwhile charity. We give apartments to needy people. It’s that simple.” Winners of the tournament, to be held at the Los Robles Golf Course in
Thousand Oaks, will be awarded trophies. Golfers can participate for $99 per person or $372 for a group of four. Tee-off time will be 8 a.m. The price includes 18 holes of golf, a
continental breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks. Putting, long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests will be held. Door prizes--including patio umbrellas, paintings by local artists and
golf-themed lithographs--will also be awarded. Those not interested in golf can come for just the barbecue lunch for $25. For more information, call 497-0344. MORE TO READ
