The Conejo Valley Days Committee is accepting submissions for its annual contest to devise a theme for next year’s festival. “We’re looking for something that’s cute and local,” said Conejo
Valley Days publicity chairwoman Mary Elva Anderson. Suggested themes should embody the Conejo Valley Days’ 41-year-old tradition of celebrating the region’s western, pioneer heritage, she
said. Past winning themes include “Country Tunes Under Western Moons,” “Play Awhile in Western Style” and “Rolling Hills and Country Frills.” The winning theme will be used in posters,
newspapers and on Conejo Valley Days memorabilia, such as badges and belt buckles. The grand prize winner will receive an official Conejo Valley Days belt buckle and get to ride in next
year’s parade in late April. A $100 donation will also be made to the charity of the winner’s choice. Participants may submit up to five entries. Entries should be mailed to: Conejo Valley
Days Theme Contest; P.O. Box 4589; Thousand Oaks; 91359-1589. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 30. The winner will be announced no later than 10 days after the deadline. MORE TO READ
