Special Devices’ Quarterly Profits More Than Double

Special Devices Inc. saw its net income more than double on a 32% rise in sales during its fourth quarter.


The Newhall-based maker of devices used in air bags posted a $2.4-million profit in the quarter that ended Oct. 31, compared with a $1.1-million profit in the same period a year earlier.


Sales in the latest quarter rose to $32.1 million, up from $24.4 million.


For the full year, Special Devices saw its profits climb 34% to $7.5 million, compared with $5.6 million a year earlier. Sales rose 4% to $104.5 million, compared with $100.6 million in


fiscal 1995.
