The Orange County Marine Institute is offering an expanded summer program for children and families. The new Wind and Sea program invites children ages 8 to 10 to learn about the life of a
sailor. The five-day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is offered in four sessions in July at the institute’s Historic Marine Center. The cost is $164 per student. A family can spend a
weekend at sea sailing to Catalina Island aboard the historic schooner, Pilgrim of Newport. Adults must accompany children 12 and older. The ship sails at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays and returns at
6 p.m. Sundays. All trips depart from and return to Newport Harbor. The weekend excursions run July 19-20, Aug. 9-10 and Aug. 23-24. The cost is $199 a person. Information: (714) 248-0503.
