Coronation Street’s Mick Michaelis actor has revealed Colson Smith’s reaction to meeting him for the first time before killing his character off. Joe Layton made his debut on the ITV soap
earlier this year as violent thug Mick along with his wife Lou (Farrel Hegarty). Described as “nightmare neighbours,” it didn’t take the pair long to cause some drama. Recently though, it
became clear that Mick and Lou had a history with fellow resident and bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). And after the soap aired a flashback episode to 2007 last week, viewers got
insight into their friendship. It was revealed that Kit committed a crime when they were teenagers - and Mick took the wrap for it. What’s more, in a shock paternity twist, it was also
confirmed that Kit is the real father of Lou’s teenage son Brody (Ryan Mulvey). And this week, things took a seriously dramatic turn when Mick found out his wife’s secret. After brutally
attacking Lou, a heartbroken Mick then made it his mission to find Kit and kill him. However, in a heartbreaking turn of events, PC Craig Tinker ended up pulling over a drunken Mick, who
then brutally hit Craig with a baseball bat, leaving him for dead before fleeing. Craig was then rushed to the hospital and placed in intensive care where it was revealed he had swelling on
the brain. As he was questioned about the attack, Craig's health started to rapidly deteriorate and he suffered a cardiac arrest. Sadly, after not responding to CPR, Craig was
pronounced dead. Now, the actor who played Craig’s killer Mick Michaelis, has broken his silence on being involved in Craig’s tragic exit storyline. Speaking to Leicester Live and other
press, Joe Layton was quizzed on how long he knew Mick was going to kill Craig. He said: “I knew that when I got the offer through that it was going to involve killing someone. “And then
when I had the Zoom with Kate [Brooks] she said it was going to be Craig,” he added. Recalling meeting Colson for the first time and sharing his reaction, Joe said: “Then on my first day, I
arrived in the green room and I met Colson. “He said 'I think you're going to kill me' and I said 'I think i might',” Joe added. He then praised his co-star: “It’s
also a credit to Colson, he's been so kind and welcoming to me.” Joe continued: “If I put myself in his shoes, there must be loads of different things going on from having been on the
soap for so long. So that's a credit to Colson.” CORONATION STREET AIRS MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY AT 8PM ON ITV1 AND ITVX
