A man was left seriously injured after being attacked by a group in Leicester last night (Monday 13). The incident prompted a police chase through the city centre and two people were


arrested. Leicestershire Police was called to Brazil Street at the junction of New Bridge Street, near the city centre, shortly before 10pm, to reports of a man being attacked by a group of


people. Officers and paramedics attended and found a man, in his 20s, seriously injured. The man was taken to hospital where he where he remains. His injuries are not being considered

city centre, in connection with the incident. The car initially failed to stop pulling over on Norman Street, the force said. A 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of


causing grievous bodily harm with intent as well as drink-driving. Officers attempted to pull over a second car - a red Skoda Roomster - in Filbert Street, at 10.20pm. The driver did not


stop, leading to a chase through the city centre before the car another vehicle in Church Gate. A 23-year-old man was arrested close to the crash on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm


with intent. Both of the men remain in custody at this time. Officers placed a cordon at the junction where enquiries remain ongoing. It was also established that the windows of a nearby


property on New Bridge Street were damaged in the incident. Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to get in touch to help with their enquiries - including those who may have doorbell or


dashcam footage in the area around the time of the incident. Detective Inspector Mike Chandler, from the Complex Investigation Team (CIT), said: “Our investigation to establish what


happened, including how the man came to suffer these injuries, is continuing and I’d like to speak to anyone who can help. “I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in Brazil Street


or New Bridge Street around the time of the incident and who has either doorbell or dashcam footage. “I’d also ask other motorists who were driving through the city last night to come


forward. Did you see either vehicle or capture them on your dashcam? Anything you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, could assist us.” You can pass on
