the Met Office for many parts of the UK, set to happen this bank holiday weekend. The spring bank holiday will take place on Monday, May 26. The forecast may come as bad news for thousands


of people across Merseyside, and others heading into the city. This weekend is set to be one of the biggest, busiest and most celebratory weekends the region has ever seen. A number of large


scale events will all be held outdoors, meaning the weather holding up will be a hope for many. The city will play host to BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend on Friday, May 23 until Sunday May


25. Another huge event taking place outdoors will be the city welcoming back the Queen Anne Cruise Ship. She docks in Liverpool on Monday, May 26 - the same day close to a million people are


expected to line the streets as Liverpool parade their 20th league title. It has been an exceptionally dry and sunny spring, with records set to be broken. On Friday, the Met Office


confirmed that the UK had already recorded more sunshine hours so far this spring, than it did for the whole of meteorological summer last year. The bank holiday weekend looks to be a


different story as Deputy Chief Meteorologist Mark Sidaway said: “The high pressure that has been around for the last few weeks will slowly lose its grip on the UK this week, bringing a


change to more unsettled conditions with many areas seeing rain or showers, ending the prolonged dry spell." Article continues below The weather agency adds: "The bank holiday

23: According to BBC Weather, Friday will reach a high temperature of 17C with the majority of the day being "sunny" with a "gentle breeze". At the time of writing, there


is currently no rain forecast for the entirety of the day. SATURDAY, MAY 24: BBC weather and Met Office both forecast rain to hit Merseyside this Saturday. Although the temperature is


expected to reach 18C, there will be "light rain showers" and a "gentle breeze" across the region. The Met Office adds it will "change to cloudy" in the


afternoon. BBC has forecast a chance of light rain to happen every hour from 6am Saturday, until 2pm on Sunday, May 25. SUNDAY, MAY 25: Sunday, May 25, BBC weather has forecasted "light


rain showers and a moderate breeze", with temperatures dropping slightly to 17C. Rain could hit Merseyside from 6am until 2pm, the hours of 2pm until 4pm are forecast to be dry. Light


rain could begin again from 5pm until 7pm, with the remainder of the evening expected to be dry. Article continues below MONDAY, MAY 26: Monday, May 26, there is a possibility of "light


rain and a moderate breeze", BBC weather has forecast light rain in every hour from 6am for the entire day. Despite the potentially wetter conditions, the temperature is expected to


reach a peak of 17C again.
