LUKE AND CHARLIE ARE TAKING ON THE TREK OVER THE COURSE OF THE WEEK TO GET TO LIVERPOOL 17:27, 23 May 2025Updated 19:10, 23 May 2025 A dad-of-two is trying his hardest to be in Liverpool to

watch the champions celebrate their title win on Monday after setting off from his home city in Cardiff on foot. Luke Higgins left the Welsh capital at 12.15pm on Wednesday, May 21, along

with friend Charlie Manley, 23, with the aim of reaching Merseyside on Saturday night. But after two days of trekking north, the pair are worried they might be cutting it close reaching the

city by Monday as they struggle with aches and pains from hours of walking. Speaking to the ECHO as they stopped near Pembridge in Herefordshire, the 35-year-old said: "We've been

better. I'm a massive Liverpool fan but this walk has turned into something so much bigger." Luke explained how the walk initially started as a joking Facebook post before he was

quickly told if he walked to Liverpool, a friend of his would donate £1,000 to a charity of his choice. He decided to take on the challenge and has now already raised £1,430 at the time of

writing for Mind. He said he chose Mind due to struggling with his mental health, one experience including when he talked a colleague out of taking his own life in 2019 and having to take

three months off work sick. Article continues below He said: "In the middle of last week I put up a post on Facebook saying I'd had the idea about going from Cardiff to Liverpool

and it has just blown up since then. "We're trying our best to get there in time but we're doing this with no planning or training so we're suffering at the moment."

Throughout the walk to Liverpool, Luke has been sharing Facebook Lives for the majority of the challenge as he battles the clock. The first night of the trip was spent wild camping under a

tree, Luke told the ECHO, with the second night being spent in an inn in Dorstone. They're both donning Liverpool hats, with them also wearing Liverpool shirts during the course of the

trek. To follow the journey, people can watch the live streams on Luke's Facebook here. To read more or donate to the JustGiving page, click here. For the latest news and breaking news
