TWO MEN WHO WERE AMONG THE LAST TO SEE JAY SLATER ALIVE REMAIN UNTRACEABLE 16:01, 21 May 2025 Jay Slater's inquest has been adjourned after his mum pleaded with the coroner to
interrogate two men who were among the last to see her son alive. The two men - Ayub Qassim and Steven Roccas - had been visited by Jay at their Airbnb after a music festival before his
disappearance. Preston Coroner's Court heard today, May 21, the two men have not been found, despite significant efforts by the coroner's office, including requests for the
Metropolitan Police to issue witness summons, Lancs Live reports. Jay's mum Debbie Duncan was asked by Lancashire's Senior Coroner Dr James Adeley whether she was content for their
initial statements to be read into evidence. However, she pleaded with him to bring "these people in front of us". She told the inquest: "I know you tried to locate them but
how can we ever get any understanding? We know he died, we know he had an accident, but from him leaving that holiday resort to going up there? "We read the statements. There are things
that we want to question. We want these people in front of us. Article continues below "My son went on holiday and didn't come back so there are questions we need to ask.
Please." The coroner has adjourned the inquest and indicated it will likely resume "in a couple of months". Dr James Adeley said: "The question in any inquest is that of
how somebody comes by their death. "The difficulty is in the interpretation. We could simply deal with Jay's death by the fact that he has walked into the middle of nowhere and
fallen off a cliff." Addressing Jay's mother Debbie, he continued: "However, you wish to speak to the witnesses, who last saw him. You have heard of the difficulties we have
had trying to find these two witnesses. "In view of your distress and your need for answers we will make an attempt to find them again using whatever means we can. I am not confident of
success but I will do what I can." The court has heard also witness statements from three Spaniards who saw Jay in the hours before he disappeared. At around 7.50am two friends, who
were working on a construction project in the village of Masca, saw Jay on the main road. Jay asked them about bus times. The 19-year-old was tragically found dead in a ravine in Rural Parc
de Teno, in Tenerife, on July 15 last year. The apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, had attended the NRG music festival in Playa de las Americas. He travelled to an Airbnb in the
remote Masca village in north-west Tenerife in the early hours of June 17, following an NRG event. Jay then left the property, with the teenager intending to walk to the apartment his
friends were staying in at Los Cristianos. The month-long search for Jay sparked major media attention from the UK. Article continues below He was eventually found in the Juan Lopez ravine,
north of Masca, close to where his phone last pinged. A post-mortem examination concluded he died of traumatic head injuries, consistent with a fall from height. As Jay's body was
returned to Lancashire for his funeral, Lancashire's Senior Coroner Dr James Adeley opened an inquest. The final hearing is being held today.
