'THERE’S BEEN A LOT OF MISLEADING INFORMATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA WHICH HAS BEEN DISAPPOINTING' 15:44, 02 Jun 2025 A pupil was taken to hospital to be checked over after four children
drank alcohol in school before they broke up for half term. Children were contained in the playground of Rainhill High School during their lunch break on Thursday, May 22, after a pupil was
seen behaving unusually. The school today confirmed pupils were marshalled and contained as they dealt with the incident. The response was in line with normal school precautionary
procedures, a spokesperson for the school told the ECHO. In a statement released to the ECHO, the school said: "We can confirm there was an issue with a student bringing in a small
amount of alcohol before half term. "Four students sampled the alcohol, and three were taken for a check-up to hospital and their parents/carers were contacted as per our normal
processes and procedures. "Thankfully, all students were fine and sent home that same day. We will always prioritise the safety and well-being of our children and this will always be at
the forefront of our decision-making. "In this case, it happened at lunchtime, and we thank our staff on duty who acted swiftly, skilfully and with utmost care. Article continues below
"We then sent out a whole-school communication to our parents/carers. "There’s been a lot of misleading information on social media which has been disappointing. "We have
high expectations and aspirations for all our students and we will not accept any behaviours that fall below these standards. "The school explained it has a zero tolerance when it comes
to alcohol and there has since been communication with parents and children." Rainhill High School confirmed it followed usual protocols when dealing with an incident involving
alcohol. For the latest news and breaking news visit http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/. Article continues below Get all the big headlines, pictures, analysis, opinion and video on the
