THE HOUSE WAS SHOT AT SHORTLY AFTER 9AM ON SUNDAY 12:14, 02 Jun 2025 Police have issued an update after a crossbow was fired at the front of a house. Merseyside Police confirmed officers
were called to Madryn Avenue in Kirkby shortly after 9am on Sunday, June 1, to reports that the front door and window of a house had been hit by arrows from a crossbow. It was reported at
the time that a man, who was wearing a face covering, was seen riding away from the scene on a bike. Enquiries have since taken place and the force has announced a man has since been
arrested for the "targeted attack". A 43-year-old man from Kirkby was arrested this morning (June 2) on suspicion of s18 attempt wounding with intent, possession of an offensive
weapon in a public place and criminal damage to a property. He is currently in custody where he is being questioned by detectives. Officers remained at the scene on Sunday morning as they
carried out initial CCTV and witness enquiries. A house with visible damage to its front door was cordoned off, and two police vans could be seen parked outside. Detective Inspector Darren
Hankin said at the time: “I know residents in Kirkby will be shocked and saddened to hear that a crossbow has been used in the heart of their community. Article continues below “To fire such
a weapon in a residential street so recklessly could clearly have had far more serious consequences, and we are grateful that nobody is reported to have been hurt during this incident. “We
believe the suspect fled the area on a bike and our officers are conducting extensive enquiries to locate him, seize the weapon and bring him to justice. “We are also keen to speak to anyone
who was in the general area who saw or heard anything suspicious or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, CCTV or doorbell camera. “Weapons, whether they be knives,
firearms or crossbows, have no place in Merseyside. They bring misery and fear to the heart of our communities, and we would ask that the public help by coming forward with any information
they have so we can bring the male responsible to justice.” Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook ‘Merseyside Police
