was holidaying at the Galaxy Holiday Apartments in Blackpool with his partner from Scotland when he carried out the savage assault in May 2022.

The 39-year-old threw the woman off a bed, yanked her hair and repeatedly struck her in the face. He told the woman he would murder her and said: "You're not my girlfriend, you're a business

transaction".

‌ Terrified, the woman escaped the flat in the early hours and travelled back to Glasgow. Her sister greeted her at the station, and she reported the incident to the police.

‌ Despite denying ABH, Howell was convicted at Preston Crown Court, reports Lancs Live. In a victim impact statement, the woman said: "It has been a really difficult situation as I met Scott

when his brother sadly passed away.

of my friends. I was warned about him.

The woman said she feared Howell might come to her home to kill her, and she became anxious whenever she left her house, worried she might encounter him. The attack left her with a broken

nose requiring surgical realignment and a fractured, bruised cheekbone.

She took time off from her role as a student nurse, not wanting her patients or supervisor to see her injuries. She also experienced breathing difficulties and lost her sense of smell.

‌ Recorder Fiona Clancy, during sentencing, said: "You have previous convictions for domestic abuse but you have not previously served a custodial sentence. This offending was in a domestic

violence context and represents a breach of the trust and security that normally exists in an intimate or family relationship.

"I accept you suffered childhood trauma and I am told you suffered a significant and traumatic bereavement before this incident, having lost your brother to alcohol." She sentenced Howell,

of Holmscroft Street, Greenock, to 18 months in prison.
